Don't be shy

take #5485544175 of trying to post this

(weekend catch-up part II)

The reason why I had to leave early from Wolf Parade was because I still had to go all the way to Ghent for - surprise, surprise - more Make-Up Club goodness with Gerlin and Hermine from
Neon Enlightenment.

The party of the night was Vanishing Point, an electrorock event with a great line-up (Steve from Soulwax, Jester aka Goose, Wallace Vanborn). I don't know how they do it, but organisers Peter and Murat never fail to create the best parties - at least not when I'm around.

Downstairs people danced away through the night with loads of glowsticks in their hands, hair and anywhere else.
Upstairs there was the Toilet Disco, a mini-party soundtracked by Peters iPod (which means Oasis! Libertines! Stone Roses!). Shots of vodka and other spirits were sold in favour of the Music for Life action. Libertines and spirits - you can imagine it was pretty hard to drag me away from that bathroom!

Enough of my pictures, now it's time to get completely blown away by some real photography by the Make-Up's home photographers.

Stay beautiful

I tried to post my other weekend pictures, but since Blogger is being a bitch and doesn't want to load them properly, it seems like I'll have to try again later. I don't want to leave you like this, though, and that's why I decided to post some great videos.

I'm a loyal Manic Street Preachers fan and last week I had one of thoese moments when I look back to their time with Richey Edwards, before he disappeared. It always strikes me how much love their seems to be between Richey and Nicky Wire, the videos speak for themselves. That's why I think it's not very surprising how Nicky is still really caught up in Richey's disappearance - I mean, he still writes a lot of songs about Richey, he often dedicates songs to him at concerts.. It's really beautiful.

Here's some of the best Glamour Twins moments

And this is way adorable

I got water and holes in my hands

(weekend catch-up part I)

There was - once again - plenty to do last weekend. This included working for uni, but fortunately some fun things as well. To start with, I went to see Wolf Parade at the Ancienne Belgique.

First up was the support act called Soon. Not too bad, not too great either.

After a long wait (it at least felt like a long wait, because I kind of was in a hurry) Wolf Parade finally started their gig.

They were only with the four of them instead of with five (keyboard player/sound manipulator missing), which did seem to affect the quality of their gig. Not all songs sounded as eccentric and creative on stage as they do on the albums. Especially Dan Broeckner's songs seemed to suffer under the circumstances.

But hey, there were some really good moments as well. My favourite performance was Dear Sons And Daughters Of Hungry Ghosts. I LOVE it when Spencer Krug does that thing with his voice, it even reminds me a bit of David Bowie.

Conclusion? Not a bad gig, but I think it could've been better.

Because nothingness is nice

It seems like my life is all about university deadlines this month. Bad timing, since there's so much to do. For instance, the Cocktail party at the VUB campus in Jette.

The evening didn't exactly kick off well. When I got off the bus and walked to Karolien's place, I saw some guy in a blue training suit running really fast towards me. I thought he was going to rob me or something, but all he did was pushing me so hard that I fell right in the muddy grass field I was walking next to. I'm glad he wasn't robbing me, but still...freak. So far for dressing up - at that moment my look could've best been described as eh, soily. Luckily it's easy to clean up liquid leggings.

Things fortunately started to get better afterwards. After giving my approval to Stef's (Karolien's boyfriend) iTunes content, we headed off to Jan's place for Evelyne's birthday party. A bit of amaretto mixed with gin was enough to bring Karolien into higher spirits, which led to hilarious situations. Bless her.

Around midnight we went to the actual Cocktail party. The music and the sound quality pretty much sucked, but I was in good company - enough for another fun night.
